[국내여행] DMZ 평화관광, 외국인 뿐만 아니고 내국인도 체험 추천

미국에서 온 조카를 데리고 간 DMZ 평화관광.
한국인인 나도 한 번도 가본 적 없고, 우리 아이들도 데리고 가보지 못한 곳이다.
통일전망대 가서 망원경으로 투어는 했었지만 이렇게 제대로 된 투어는 처음이다.
 
너무 어린아이들 말고 역사에 대해 조금은 알고 있는 초등 고학년 이상이면 분명히 도움이 될만한 체험이라는 생각이 들었다. 어른인 나도 조금은 긴장이 되었고, 꽤 많은 울림이 있었다. 비상계엄령 사태 이후 지속적인 불안감이 있는 상태여서 인지 더욱더 긴장감이 있었던 것 같다.

홈페이지에 업데이트 되는 내용이 있을 수 있으니 확인하고 방문하는 것이 좋을 것 같다. 시국이 난국인지라 더더욱 그러하다.

2. 방문시 내비게이션 주소 '경기도 파주시 문산읍 임진각로 148-57'

주차장이 매우 넓고, 내리면 바로 매표소가 있다.
3시간의 체험이 끝나고 출차할때 주차요금을 따로 받지 않았다. 공짜. 

 
 
곤돌라와 DMZ평화관광이 있는데 곤돌라는 타지 않아도 될 듯하다.
외국인 투어하는 사람들도 모두 DMZ평화관광에만 몰려있고 곤돌라는 휑했다.

 
 
3. 두 개의 건물 중 왼쪽에 위치한 DMZ 평화관광 티켓 장소로 가서 바로 티켓팅을 한다.
단체 관광버스로 시간대별로 운영을 한다. 우리는 운 좋게 가자마자 4분 뒤 출발하는 버스에 탑승할 수 있었다. 좌석이 정해져 있어 정해진 좌석에 탑승하면 된다. 

 
 
4. 티켓팅할 때 나눠준 브로슈어 확인하기  
유의사항과 코스, 코스별 역사적 배경이 한국어와 영어로 설명되어 있다. 

 

 
 
아래 세 군데를 관광한다. 제3땅굴 > 도라전망대 > 통일촌 
세 군데 관광을 마치고 다시 매표소로 복귀하는 데까지 3시간 걸린다. 
중간중간 화장실은 있으니 걱정하지 않아도 된다. 

 
 
5. 군경찰의 신분증 확인
비무장지대로 진입하면서 민간인이 통제구역으로 들어간다.
그때부터는 카메라 사용도 허용되지 않고 사진 찍으면 처벌받는다는 문구가 적혀있다.
군경찰이 버스에 올라타 한 명씩 신분증을 다 확인한 후에야 제3땅굴을 관광하러 갈 수 있다.
이때 좀 긴장이 되었다.
 
제3땅굴로 가는 길에 있는 나무들이 어찌나 스산하던지... 이파리 하나 없이 가지만 있는 나무들. 사랑의 불시착 여기 와서 찍었나 싶을 정도로 휑한 딱 그런 느낌이었다. 
 
 
6. 제3땅굴 관광 (1시간)
우선 소개영상을 본다. 90년대까지 북한에서 남침하려고 땅굴을 팠다는 사실을 처음 알았다. 
소개 영상을 보고 나서 분단의 현장과 비무장지대 관련 설명들을 보고 들을 수 있다.
프라이빗, 단체 영어 설명 가이드가 곳곳에 많아서 살짝 옆에 서서 들으면 도움이 되었다. 
들으려고 안 해도 가이드가 많아서 계속 들린다 ^^

 
 
제3땅굴 들어가는 입구. 긴장되는구나. 

 
 
땅굴까지 내려가는 터널이 경사가 꽤 심하다. 내려갈 때는 몰랐는데 올라오다 토할 뻔. 진짜 너무 힘들었다. ㅜ.ㅜ 체력이 좋지 못한 노인분들은 내려가지 않기를 권하고 싶다.

터널은 헬맷을 쓰고 가야 한다. 내부는 가로 세로 2m 정도여서 성인 여자는 머리를 좀 숙여야 하고, 성인 남자는 꽤 숙여야 지나갈 수 있다. 외국인들은 아예 허리를 굽히고 지나다녔다. 끝까지 가도 얼마 안 되니 폐소공포증 있는 게 아니라면 끝까지 가보길 권하고 싶다.

7. 도라전망대 (50분)
우리나라에서 북한을 가장 가깝게 볼 수 있는 곳이라고 한다. 
원래는 3층 전망대에서 망원경으로 보면 북한 사람까지 보인다고 하는데 최근 남북관계가 안 좋고, 오물풍선, 비상계엄 등으로 인해 전망대는 막아둔 상태라고 한다. 많이 아쉬웠지만 2층 전면 거울에서 북한을 볼 수 있었다.

 
 
북한 쪽으로는 절대 카메라 촬영이 금지되어 있어 촬영은 하지 못했다.
개성공단은 걸어서 3시간이면 갈 수 있을 듯 보였고, 북한에서 최근 폭파한 다리도 보이고, 판문점도 보였다. 이 모든 곳을 한눈에 볼 수 있다니 정말 신기하고, 뉴스에서만 보던 곳들이 눈앞에 보이니 정말 기분이 이상했다. '아, 내가 정말 분단국가에 살고 있구나' 실감이 났다. 뒤숭숭 싱숭생숭 복잡 미묘한 감정들. 

 
 
 
8. 통일촌(20분)
이곳에 400여 명의 주민들이 거주하고, 그들이 생산한 특산품을 팔고 있었다.
나는 아무것도 안 샀지만 외국인들은 많이 구매했다. 

 
 
통일촌 관광을 마치고 다시 버스로 탑승. 매표소로 돌아왔다. 

 
 
조카 데리고 간 DMZ 평화관광이었는데 내가 더 느끼고 배운 하루였다.
외국인이 80%인 관광코스이지만 내국인이 가도 도움이 될 것 같아 내국인에게도 추천하고자 꼼꼼히 작성해 보았다.

• Significance: It is one of the closest points to North Korea accessible to civilians.

3. Tongilchon (Unification Village)

• Community: The village is home to approximately 400 residents.

Important Information for Visitors

• Reservations:
  The DMZ Tour operates on a reservation system. While online reservations are available, they can fill up quickly. If online slots are unavailable, on-site ticketing is possible, but it's advisable to arrive early due to the high demand. The ticket office opens at 9:00 AM.
• Identification:
  All visitors must carry a valid passport for identification purposes. Access to the DMZ is strictly controlled, and identification checks are conducted before entry.
• Photography:
  Photography is restricted in certain areas within the DMZ. Always adhere to guidelines provided by tour guides and posted signs to avoid violations.
• Physical Considerations:
  The descent into the 3rd Tunnel is steep, and the tunnel's height is approximately 2 meters, requiring some visitors to bend while walking.
